Corruption: Salvation lies in the hands of exceptional youths – Charly Boy
…berates Okorocha’s insensitivity
to the plight of the masses
By Adaku Denis
A known protagonist for the
emancipation of the down trodden and initiator of “our Mumudondo” Mr. Charles
Oputa aka Charley Boy disclosed that the salvation of the society from
corruption and myriads of bad governance lies in the hands of exceptional
youths.
Speaking
to members of Independent Newspaper Publishers Association- INPA during a
courtesy call on the Association Charley Boy lamented on the ongoing
demolitions in Owerri and said it cannot be allowed to continue.
Charley
Boy therefore charged Imo people not be afraid of the government rather said it is the government that should
be afraid of the people and stressed the
need to educate, ginger and help Imo People who he pointed out have been
suffocating under the Rescue Government.
He lauded
the press for their encouragements to his crusade especially during the Resume
or Resign which he said the Press believe that Nigeria is for all
According
to him, the media involvement made the issue to get international attention
that compelled President Buhari to return home and maintained that a few
committed people can change the society and added, “We can’t be intimidated”.
Said
he, “we came to sympathize with the family of the slain 10 year Somotochukwu
Ibeanusi and all those that lost their loved ones, we urge the Federal
Government to investigate the issue and get those guilty punished.
In his
response; the INPA Chairman, Elder Lambert Ojukwu lauded Charley Boy for his
unrelenting fight against the oppressed and called on the youths to key unto his
footstep.
Ojukwu
identified his programmes as an eye opener rather than a failure and urged both the Federal and State
Governments to copy his programmes even as he assured him that Imo people are
not ashamed of him.
Among
those who accompanied Charly Boy on the courtesy call include a renowned human
right activist Odinkalu as well as the Imo State leader of “our mumudondo”
Comrade Precious Nwadike.
