Anglican cleric charges colleagues to preach salvation gospel
Christian
clergymen have been charged to always preach the message of salvation according
to the biblical injunction by Jesus Christ as a drastic measure to checkmate
the societal moral decadence and criminal activities that have ravaged the
society.
Making this call while fielding
questions from journalists at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ubommiri in Achi
Mbieri Archdeaconry of Owerri Diocese, the Rev. Aaron Orji decried the proliferation
of churches which he noted have watered down the gospel in the overall interest
of humanity as against the divine directives.
“Many men of God have basterdized
the teachings of Christ that anchors on love, righteousness and holiness but
have merchandized the word of God by preaching solely on prosperity, just to
please humanity and satisfy their selfish interest”, he stated.
According to him, Christianity
means preaching the true and real gospel of Jesus Christ which must remain
sacrosanct, and “worshipping God in truth and spirit, as to guarantee true
salvation through faith assured by our Lord Jesus Christ”.
Against the backdrop of recent
kidnapping of men of God especially within the South East geo-political region,
he described kidnapping as barbaric, inhuman, demonic and satanic activity
assuring that no person that fears God and respects humanity can engage in such
criminal activity that defiles souls of mankind.
He further advised Christians
against living ostentatious and fake life but to look unto Jesus Christ as the
author and finisher of their faith.
Rev Orji who is the resident
priest of St Paul’s Anglican Church Ubommiri disclosed that the Anglican
Diocese of Owerri would be holding her synod very soon with the theme: “Guard
The Gospel”. He added that real men of God have the task of preaching the true
gospel as way of guarding the Christian gospel of salvation.
The cleric who said 2017 is his
28th year as a preacher of the gospel applauded Rt Revd Cyril
Okorocha, the Bishop of Owerri Diocese for his exemplary leadership and
discipleship and prayed for God’s grace upon him life and his family.
