As his people give him historic homecoming
The
traditional ruler of Assah autonomous community, HRM Eze Emmanuel Assor has
advised youths from his community to quit cultism and take advantage of the
opportunities offered by ICAPS to better their lives.
Eze Assor said this while
addressing the people of his community for the first time since he received
back the staff of office said he received back of the traditional stool vacated
by his father, the late HRM Eze Utiti Assor, the Odadizi Obodo 1 of Assah/Obile
autonomous community. advised the youths to cooperate with the state
government’s effort to end all form of cultism and criminality in the area and
reminded them that government cannot tolerate any act of cult activities and
will deal with those involved in such act.
While thanking them for such a
wonderful and unprecedented historic welcome that involved people from all
shades of opinion including those that were in opposition all now speak with
one voice with a resolve to end bickering and agitation for a new autonomous
community.
The monarch commended Imo State
Police Commissioner for his prompt response to combat cultism in his community
that has brought back peace and used the opportunity to convey the joy of Assah
community to Imo State government for their support to the security agents in
the fight to restore sanity in their community.
Speaking to newsmen earlier, the
chairman of the meeting and a title holder, Chief Cletus Uyaeme said the entire
community decided to troop out in their numbers to welcome their traditional
ruler home to show that he is accepted by all and their willingness to hear him
talk to them since he got back the staff of office from the state government.
He lauded Eze Assor for speaking
to them in a straight and plain language with categorical statement against
cultism as he has made it clear to the youths, that no development or success
can take place in an atmosphere infected with cult activities.
According to Eze Assor, he
continued those who engage in cultism are failures in life that will live their
adult life in regrets and promised to grant any repentant youth royal amnesty.
Chief Uyaeme pointed out that
some of the youths denounced their membership of cult groups and expressed joy
that for the first time in so many years, he was able to spend the night in his
community without any form of harassment and called on both the state
government and the press to help their traditional ruler and the community win
the war against cultism.
