By Emezuru Diogu
Following an alleged financial
improprieties and non-challant attitude to issues concerning the union members,
the South-East zonal Council of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil
Service Technical and Recreational Services Employee-AUPCTRE has passed a vote
of no confidence on the Ag. Zonal Chairman Comrade Chike and Zonal Secretary
Comrade Godwin Eze.
According to a communiqué issued
at the end of their zonal council meeting held in Owerri recently, stated intra
alia; “both officers ceases to function in those offices and on behalf of the
zone with immediate effect. They are also barred from attending NEC, NGC and or
Pre-NDC meetings on behalf of the Eastern Zonal Council”.
The communiqué further resolved “those
leaders mandated to speak on its behalf and represent the zonal council on all
Pre-NDC meetings, NEC and NGC and with any group or zone is Comrade Engr. Chris
Elibe, -National Deputy President, Comrade Mercy Okezie-President NLC Women
Wing and Comrade Isidore Opara-Secretary assigned to Ebonyi State.
AUPCTRE South-East zone in the
communiqué frowned seriously at the non-challant attitude and refusal of the
zonal acting Chairman and Zonal Secretary to convene a formal meeting of the
union to discuss the myriads of problems facing her members and State Councils
within the zone despite several requests, appeals including letters written to
them.
The communiqué viewed with dismay
the alleged sharing of assets of the zone with the newly established
South-South zone without the consent of the Eastern Council.
