Why I want to represent Nwangele at the House of Assembly –Iwuanyanwu
A
youthful House of Assembly aspirant for Nwangele State Constituency, Hon
Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu has promised to return power to the youths in 2019.
He spoke to some senior journalists in Owerri.
Introduction:
According
to the scion of Chief Chyna Iwuanyanwu’s political family, he is Hon Amarachi
Chyna Iwuanyanwu, a graduate of Banking & Finance from the prestigious
University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). An indigene of Amuzu, Dim na Nume in
Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State. He is a chieftain of the ruling
All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon
Iwuanyanwu worked in the banking sector before venturing inti private business,
which includes real estate, hospitality/hotels and bakery under the SUNGOLD
Group. He is married and has two daughters.
Why he is aspiring
to run for Nwangele State Constituency:
On
why he is eying the constituency seat of Nwangele, Hon Iwuanyanwu revealed that
though former representatives of the people had done their bit, there are
issues that border on empowerment of the constituents, which the probate sector
has some limitations to deal with and address. He described such roadblocks as
policies of government, which the legislature is the platform that can address
them.
According
to him, Nwangele has suffered economic marginalization and their youths had
always been used during electioneering activities and later dumped. He said roads
and electricity, which politicians in the past promised and provided for the people,
have no direct bearing on the youths, adding that the youths have no cars to
ply such roads neither do they have running businesses that will use the
electricity.
To
this end, he has promised to attract two industries into Nwangele in order to
open up the area to gradually look like Nnewi in Anambra State or Aba in Abia
State. He insisted that it is the result of efforts of sons of these areas that
they have turned to become business and commercial hubs in Igboland.
Hon
Iwuanyanwu said that Nwangele has youths who want to add value to the LG,
stressing that he and his team, The Nwangele Project, have developed the master
plan for the socio-economic development of the people.
On his vision for
Nwangele:
Hon
Iwuanyanwu revealed that his vision is for the economic emancipation of the
people. He said the youths of Nwangele have good business ideas and that time
has come for the establishment of a microfinance bank to provide loans for the
youths. He also stated that he has plans to have a palm plantation and oil mill
in the LG, which will be refining the best palm oil in the South East. Part of
the plan, he said is I equip the rural women with improved palm seedlings and
to be buying off the palm fruits from them for processing. He disclosed that
the intended oil mill will have the capacity of over 2000 gallons, which will be
known as NGELE Oil.
Unfulfilled
promises by politicians:
The
APC chieftain decried the attitude of some politicians who when they win
elections will concentrate in playing politics rather than work for the people.
He promised that he is going to work for the people of Nwangele and not to play
politics.
What he will be
remembered for when he gets to the Assembly:
The
young politician revealed that he will attract attention of government and
other developments to Nwangele local government area as well as create jobs for
the people, especially the youths. He promised that he will do his best to turn
the future of the LG around.
His Electoral
chances in APC:
Speaking
on his electoral chances in the All Progressives Congress (APC) which some view
with negative perception, Hon Iwuanyanwu said the party met on ground a
dysfunctional system. He added that the period of decay by the opposition
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was long and that is why the efforts of the APC
to turn things around have not been seen clearly. He said even at the federal
level, this is evident due to the massive looting and corruption, stressing
that the APC government is doing a surgical operation on the system. He
appealed to the citizens to give the APC time.
Assessment of
Governor Rochas Okorocha’s administration:
He
said that looking at where Imo people were coming from since 1999 when the
opposition PDP held sway, the Rescue Mission administration of Owelle Rochas
Anayo Okorocha has done well in Imo State, especially in the area of
infrastructure –Road network and housing for government ministries, agencies
and departments, as well as in education.
Advice to Nwangele
people:
He
boasted that he is the only aspirant for Nwangele State constituency and has
urged other aspirants to work with him. He added that Governor Okorocha had
said that there is no zoning of electoral positions as it undermines capacity
and efficiency to deliver service to the people. Te aspirant however stated
that Nwangele is not divided into two zones but rather is made up of
communities. He disclosed that he does not support zoning but that even if such
considerations are played up, that his area of Dim-na-Nume, has been deprived
and marginalized politically, and should be considered. “I don’t believe in
zoning but I believe in fairness”, he said, stressing that other communities
can always be carried along through political appointments.
