Development Dynamics appraises CDC activities in Imo

Jude Ohanele
As part of its efforts towards ensuring the optimal engagement of citizens and communities in the electoral process, a nongovernmental organization-Development Dynamics (DD) recently organized a meeting in Owerri, the capital of Imo state to reappraise the level of implementation of the community Development Charters by the pilot communities across the three geo-political zones in the state.

Speaking during the meeting tagged: ‘Community Developement Learning Workshop’ at City Global Hotel, Programme Director of Development Dynamics, Dr Jude Ohanele revealed that the essence of the workshop was to find out how far each of the communities has gone in achieving success on the areas they outlined as top priority areas of development need and focus.
The six loal governments used as pilot LGAs are Ihitte Uboma, Aboh Mbaise, Orlu, Okigwe, Owerri West and Nwangele
Participants at the workshop from the six pilot local government areas  in Imo gave varied reports of the level of activities in their communities, towards realizing the areas of priority needs.
Speaking our report at the event, some of the participants emphasized that there is need to involve more youths in the execution of the CDCs in their communities.
Also, some of them are of the view that more emphasis should be made on the need for a new orientation for the people at the grassroots to get involved in the political process as well as engaging their leaders at all levels.

Development Dynamics is a nongovernmental organization that has been working hard in collaboration with her international partners to get the people more involved in electoral process through the Strengthening Citizens’ Engagement in the Electoral Process (SCEEP) programme.
