Group doles out N3.5M to secure Imo community

As key stakeholders in the peace
and tranquility of their country home, indigenes of Ogwa Anunu Umu-Mgbe ancient
community, Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State have set aside N3.5million to fight crime
and criminality in their community.
The indigenes under the aegis of
Ogwa Unity Forum (OUF) are determined to help the administration of Governor
Rochas Okorocha fight incessant cases of kidnapping, and armed robbery among
others.
Chairman of the Security
Committee, Mr. Ben Emekoma while briefing journalists in Owerri at the weekend,
revealed that the money is for the purpose of procuring necessary logistics for
the effective security operations of operatives of Imo Community Watch (ICW).
He said: “We are spending
over N3M in providing iron barricades in all the needed security outlets
within the ancient kingdom. The rest will be used to service the motorcycles of
the security units coordinators, provisions of torch light, packets of
groundnuts, rain coats and other motivational incentives so as to
encourage them to operate optimally”.
He expressed satisfaction with
the leadership of Forum as constituted by members of Ime Obi and the executives,
noting that Sir Chibuzor Iwuorie is the Chairman of all the Coordinators while
Mr. Patterson Onugbu is the Administrative Secretary.
Emekoma said that members of the
Forum are progressive minded people who use the social media to interact,
adding that their mission and vision is to ensure unity of purpose and selflessly
contribute towards accelerated development of their community.
The Security Committee Chairman lauded
their leadership roles and patriotism while urging them to remain focused. He appealed
to all Ogwa indigenes who have the same passion to join the Forum.
