As key stakeholders in the peace and tranquility of their country home, indigenes of Ogwa Anunu Umu-Mgbe ancient community, Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State have set aside N3.5million to fight crime and criminality in their community.

The indigenes under the aegis of Ogwa Unity Forum (OUF) are determined to help the administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha fight incessant cases of kidnapping, and armed robbery among others.

Chairman of the Security Committee, Mr. Ben Emekoma while briefing journalists in Owerri at the weekend, revealed that the money is for the purpose of procuring necessary logistics for the effective security operations of operatives of Imo Community Watch (ICW).

He said: “We are spending over N3M in providing iron barricades in all the needed security outlets within the ancient kingdom. The rest will be used to service the motorcycles of the security units coordinators, provisions of torch light, packets of groundnuts, rain coats and other motivational incentives so as to encourage them to operate optimally”.

He expressed satisfaction with the leadership of Forum as constituted by members of Ime Obi and the executives, noting that Sir Chibuzor Iwuorie is the Chairman of all the Coordinators while Mr. Patterson Onugbu is the Administrative Secretary.

Emekoma said that members of the Forum are progressive minded people who use the social media to interact, adding that their mission and vision is to ensure unity of purpose and selflessly contribute towards accelerated development of their community.

The Security Committee Chairman lauded their leadership roles and patriotism while urging them to remain focused. He appealed to all Ogwa indigenes who have the same passion to join the Forum.
